More Than a Club – We Are Hanwood!
At Hanwood FC, we believe that football is more than just a game; it's a way of life that fosters camaraderie, discipline, and personal growth. Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment where players of all ages can develop their skills, embrace the spirit of teamwork, and cultivate a lifelong love for the sport. Over the years, we've celebrated numerous achievements on and off the field, thanks to the dedication of our players, coaches, volunteers, and supportive families. The Hanwood Football Club was one of the first football clubs created in Griffith in 1955 and has a long proud history of success, growth and interaction with the community.
Initially born from Italian migrants in the early days our club has evolved to be an inclusive community of people from varied backgrounds and demographics which has all contributed to our culture as it stands today.
Success…. Well success can be viewed in many different ways. In our eyes having a sustainable club that is constantly challenging for premierships in each grade we participate is one thing. Having thriving youth participants is another and running a financially viable entity that provides our participants with not only the best equipment but the best facilities is crucial in our eyes.
Most importantly we see the fact that we have been able to do this for nearly 70 years and continue to grow and thrive as a Football Club will no doubt make our forefathers proud of what they started in 1955.
2025 marks a major milestone in our history —our 70th anniversary! This celebration isn’t just about the number of years we have been around, it is a testament to the dedication of our committee, past and present, the loyalty of our players and their families, the support of our sponsors and the vision of our founders.
